Evaluation

This was an interesting project, fun, challenging and I managed to learn quite a few new skills.I think that our global issues page came out well, it was colourful, interesting, eye catching and informative. I think as a group we were officiant and this led us to finshing in good time with a great result.

Poverty Game

The game I played was about caring for a poor African family of five. You have to help them to make the right choices, about jobs, health etc. The link below will direct you straight to the game. It is enjoyable, but it also gets you thinking. When I played it I managed to kill every family member but one, and draw the family into debt, it is a hard game but very addicting.

What I Did Today

Today in class I finished my paragraph on Biodiversity and Ecosystems, and what will happen if that problem is not addressed. I also started my plan for My Story slide show, this I hope to have finished by the next lesson and then I can get started on my voice thread.

What Are We Doing?

In class now my group and I are preparing our Ether Pad, our topic is Biodiversity and Ecosystem. These are two words that look at the what the world is losing out in when its animal population decreases and suffers, when we as humans are not Eco-friendly and how all of this contributes towards global warming etc. We have started to look at the problem, what will happen if the problem is not addressed and some possible solutions. As we progress we hope to have completed this topic to the best of our abilities, our aim is to get the point across that this is not a problem that can be ignored, it affects all of us.

How can I use the Internet to Communicate and potentially Problem-solve Global Issues?

YouTube, Blogger, iGoogle, email, Etherpad etc, are all different ways of using the internet to communicate. These different communication devices are used around the world daily by more than half the world’s population. More than a billion different messages a year are sent across the world so why not send a message about global issues via these sites. There are many Global Issues that we are facing as a civilization today, but this time it is us who are causing the problems. We are affecting ourselves, causing global warming and mass destruction. As an increasing, and developing civilization we should be trying to prevent as much as we can, eg. recycling would cut down on the usage of fossil fuels and natural gasses, plants etc. We need to let people know what they are doing to ruin the planet as time is running out. If there are so many ways to communicate then maybe this could be the message that is sent around the world instead of a forwarded message that goes around every day for no reason.
